Oakridgers supporting the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis
- 12 April 2022
Students and school communities across Nord Anglia Education volunteer their time to raise money to help those affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
Our Oakridge Bachupally students organised a fundraiser for Ukrainian refugees to provide humanitarian aid. In this event, students from Kyiv International School, Sagnika and Omkar spoke to their classmates about the experiences of Ukrainian refugees.
At d’Overbroeck’s in Oxford, students held an ‘Anything but a Bag’ Day to fundraise for UNICEF’s Ukraine appeal. Meanwhile, at BISC South Loop, a Nord Anglia School, Year 5 student Noah helped send food to those in need and the whole school community donated baby formula, bottles, nappies, and blankets.
In response to the influx of refugees in Prague, students and teachers at their school have been busy fundraising. They’ve also just established a volunteering programme where they’re providing games and activities for refugee children.
At the same time, Nord Anglia gives two of our Prague students, Sabina and Hibiki, a US$12,000 Charitable Giving Grant from our Social Impact Fund to help them create wellbeing materials and provide other much-needed supplies for refugees in their community. Please continue to encourage your students to submit grant applications so their projects deliver even greater support to those most in need.
