- 3 August 2022
Hamelin-Laie International School in Barcelona has joined our global family. This brings Nord Anglia’s family of schools to 79 premium schools in 31 countries. Hamelin-Laie is the second school in Spain following International College Spain in Madrid. Its state-of-the-art four-storey campus, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, is situated in the north-eastern part of the city.
Founded in 1989, the school enrols over 1,300 students from Nursery to 12th grade and represents over 40 different nationalities. It offers a national curriculum up to High School, taught in English, Spanish, and Catalan. In the final two years, it then offers an IB Diploma and the National Bachillerato (the Spanish national curriculum).
Hamelin-Laie is a local school with an international perspective that is known for being a pioneer in trilingual learning. As the first school in Catalonia to introduce learning in English, Catalan and Spanish, its methodology has been studied by international universities. It is also the first school in Spain to teach Mandarin Chinese, and in 2019 the school officially became a Confucius Institute classroom.
Together, we’re connected by the same educational philosophy of helping students achieve more than they ever thought possible. We also share a focus on academic excellence, high-quality teaching and learning, and outstanding experiences inside and outside of the classroom.
