Empowering the Next Generation: Bangalore JMUN at Oakridge

Oakridge International School, Bengaluru hosted its 8th edition of prestigious Bangalore JMUN on 13th and 14th October. The one of its kind MUN in the city witnessed a large participation of 200+ students from across 8 schools. Since the first Bangalore JMUN in 2016, the conference has come a long way in providing an enriching experience to 6th to 9th graders with a passion for debate and public speaking. “Conferences like JMUN provides a platform for the leaders of tomorrow to engage in critical diplomacy and problem-solving.” said the chief guest of the conference, author, actress and transformational coach, Yasmin Sait. She further narrated her experience of instilling public speaking skills in her celebrity children Kubbra Sait and Danish Sait. “JMUN is unique as not only do students develop leadership skills and formulate solutions to global problems, but they also interact with delegates and form friendships that go a long way in their lives”, stated School Principal Ms Pallavi Mishra. World Health Organisation, United Nations Human Rights Council, Economic and Social Council, Disarmament and International Security, and United Nations Security Council were the several Committees of this year’s JMUN. “JMUN is one of the best conferences I’ve attended,” said Abhay, a UNSC delegate participated from National Academy of Learning, Bengaluru. “As we engaged in fruitful debate about territoriality, nuclear proliferation, income inequality, press journalism, and global health threats, we not only gained a newfound awareness of the world but also an exhilarating experience and a passion for debate”, says Ms Kashvi, Secretary General, Bangalore JMUN 2023. The Heads of International Press Siddharth and Sarthak summarised the proceedings of all the committees and presented their report at the end of the conference.
