Principal’s Desk Update – January 2024
- 23 January 2024
Dear Parents,
I hope you and your family had a joyous Sankranthi festival filled with warmth and togetherness. At our school, the festivities were vibrant, setting a positive tone for the rest of the academic year.
Before the winter break, our students embraced the Fabulous Festival Fervour during our Sankranthi celebrations. Beyond merely commemorating the harvest festival, they took the initiative to educate everyone about the cultural significance of Sankranti. Notably, the ‘Food Palette Fiesta’ organized by our Grade 9 students added a delightful touch to the celebrations, featuring traditional and mouthwatering dishes from 10 different states.
Even our youngest Oakridgers actively participated in the celebrations, adorning the campus with flower rangolis, showcasing a beautiful bommala koluvu, and exuberantly celebrating the festival.
I am delighted to share some updates on our students’ commendable participation in NAE Global Campus activities:
GC Debate Club: Teams from grades 11 and 12 engaged in a spirited debate against Oakridge Gachibowli during the first round.
International Film Festival: A dedicated group of 10 students is diligently working on the Narrative criteria for the upcoming International Film Festival, centered around the theme of Digital Connectedness across the NAE Family.
Writing Competition: Exceptional entries from each category across grades have been nominated for their outstanding contributions on the theme of Myths and Legends surrounding various monuments.
Pen Pals: Our second cohort of Pen Pals has commenced sharing their activities, fostering connections beyond borders.
Virtual Young Musicians of the Year: Students are eagerly preparing to showcase their musical talents in categories such as Keyboard, Guitar acoustic, Voice-classical, and Voice Popular.
I am pleased to inform you that the interviews for our in-house Grade 10 students seeking to re-enroll in either the CBSE or IBDP curriculum for Grade 11 AY 2024-25 have been successfully completed. During these interviews, students had the valuable opportunity to discuss their subject choices with the Principal, coordinator and the career counsellor. Subsequently, they have submitted their re-enrollment application forms.
We are delighted to share that admission letters have already been dispatched to the students. To ensure your child’s seamless transition into Grade 11, we kindly request parents to promptly complete the re-enrollment process. This step is crucial to secure your child’s seat for the upcoming academic year.
Furthermore, I’ve received inquiries from parents regarding our weekly boarding program. This option is particularly appealing to students who reside too far away to be day students. By residing in the boarding house from Monday to Friday, students can concentrate better on their studies, utilize extensive academic and co-curricular facilities, and develop essential social and independent skills in a supportive environment.
Weekly boarding provides a unique balance, allowing students to enjoy the camaraderie of school life during the week and spend quality time with family on weekends. For more details regarding weekly boarding please reach out to Minal Marawar – minal.marawar@oakridge.in
