Dear Parents,
Below is the link to read the update from the Principal’s Desk released earlier this month.
“The rich tapestry of our diverse backgrounds fosters a collective strength that enhances the entirety of humanity. The singular boundary that exists in this world is our shared humanity.”
We celebrated Independence Day, Rakhi, and Janmashtami, as well as the “Share A Dream” initiative, all these elements emphasized our common values and reinforced the bonds within our community.

Esteemed Parents,
Young Minds: Sowing Today, Sprouting Tomorrow’s Excellence
As we celebrate and bid adieu to August, which traditionally marks the in-gathering season, we should reflect upon the deep metaphor that this season inspires. Like the farmer who sows and harvests, we, too, harvest a rich school community rooted in innovation, excellence, and fidelity to the development of learners.
Throughout the academic year, we have been sowing and watering the seeds of knowledge and character among our students. For over a decade, we have nurtured inquisitive minds, inspired creativity, and propelled them toward excellence.
Now, as we head into this new month, we begin to glimpse the shoots of what these seeds are becoming: a generation ready to take on the world with a perfect amalgamation of conviction and empathy. This moment demands that we celebrate the milestones our learners have achieved, nurturing them to bloom as they grow.
Punctuating the event of Independence Day, the school echoed with vigor and zeal, as we assembled to uphold the freedom of our nation through a flag-hoisting ceremony organized to celebrate the nation’s independence. The event began early in the morning, solemnizing all our enthusiastic learners, teachers, and staff members being decked up in tricolor to symbolize patriotism to the nation.
Students envisioned a better India and accepted social responsibilities for proactive national empowerment. The day concluded featuring the themes of unification and fondness for our nation and a selfless devotion towards freedom and equality. The event also introduced a lot of ethics aside from nationalism and left an enduring impact on each one of us.
As we headed toward the end of this ceremony, the entire school was observed soaring in a splendid wave of patriotism, strengthening the principles of autonomy and neutrality in remembrance of the unparalleled sacrifices of the great leaders. It was a day that caused value addition as far as nationalism was concerned.
This year, our little nursery students had an enthusiastic educational outing to Reliance, where they learned some well-being practices. The children got to know a lot about dairy products, pulses, and groceries and their uses in our daily diet.
The learners’ excitement was brimming out as they moved around the store, making the identification of different items and their uses, which they perceived as a task supposed to be accomplished. The journey was an exceptional trip, inculcating seeds of curiosity on how to make the apt choices to achieve a healthier lifestyle. The outcome of this field trip, accompanied by such engaging hands-on activities, marked a lasting impression on our IB learners, acting as a perfect example of their unit of inquiry and aiding them in acquiring ample knowledge about a healthy diet and various food resources.
The key assessments of the PYP illuminated student learning. In our last PYP review, an authentic assessment demonstrated the impressive progression of our students. Students also had an opportunity to discuss accomplished teaching goals, the milestones conquered, and the challenges faced during the months left behind. The evaluation fostered a deep insight into our learners’ comprehension and their growth prospects, shaping their personalities, and discovering a cognitive path of learning for every student.
Our National Sports Day events exhibited an exciting inter-house sports competition that underscored the competencies of the young learners across all grades, commencing from PYP and concluding with secondary. These soccer competitions keyed up the spectators and were a true paradigm of camaraderie being fostered.
The inter-house football tournament had participants right from grade 4 to grade 12, inhibiting their traits of commitment, compassion, and collaboration oriented towards their goal of thriving excellence irrespective of the outcome. We duly praise our mascots, namely Pascal, Picasso, Shakespeare, and Mozart, for their ingenuity and fair-play spirit, making the event a remarkable experience for all. It was a perfect melding of our rich aesthetic diversity and competitiveness that produced an event worthy of some jaw-dropping kick-offs and profound defending swipes at the Oakridge soccer field.
The Share A Dream Council eagerly stood up, organizing a fundraising initiative for the needy community throughout the school with events such as mini activity stations. This council volunteering engaged the parent community in a spectrum of games, including board games, riddles, and a few other hands-on activities, with the main aim of gathering funds as well as creating awareness amongst the people in general to spare concern about the poverty-ridden community. Altogether, the initiative instilled the spirit of immense mercy and equality amongst the parent and student agencies.
Our EYP 2 students were honoured to witness a quite stimulating session with Dr. Jashan Brar, an experienced specialist in animal care. The message delivered during this session was not only informative but also fitted perfectly into the provisions of the cultural kindness amongst our community. The discussion encompassed critical aspects such as the intricate nature of animal needs and the fundamental responsibilities associated with pet care. Dr. Brar taught the learners values of compassion and courtesy; the students ponder over the repercussions caused by their decision towards the lives of other beings. This interactive session was of outmost benefit for our learners to broaden their perspectives on what it means to be an informed advocate for animals and have taken with them the ideas of respect and stewardship that define the IB learner profile.
The IBPYP and Secondary Segment staged an Inter-House Performing Arts Competition manifesting learners ‘competencies to the best of their calibre. Every house came up with some quite exceptional performances comprising dramatic arts, singing, multiple dance genres, and some thrilling stunts captivating the audience to stay stationed at the event throughout.
What an unconquerable association and bond a child has with his education. Let us join hands and ensure that the seeds we have sown in our classrooms and homes continue to flourish, showing up in the full fruit of exceptional success and well-being.
As the month foregoes, I believe that over time as our young IB learners evolve through fortifying inquiry-based learning curriculum living up to the global guidelines, which undoubtedly is remarkable. Experiencing the interactions and their footprints through the prism of the International Baccalaureate program complements the attributes of a true compassionate leader.
Owing to a staunch adherence to the tenets of the IB framework, the students are empowered to appreciate cultures different from theirs, ideologies, and methodologies to graduate to a world that is rapidly globalizing.
I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to each one of you for your resolute contribution to this process. Together, let’s strive for excellence and create an environment where every student can thrive. I am excited to see how we can build on our achievements in the months to come, replenishing them with growth, exploration, and meaningful connections at Oakridge International School, Mohali.
