Aanya’s placement experience as a DP student in Oakridge

I am quite excited about the placements I received from most of the universities I have applied to. Since the universities don’t provide offers of place without my final scores, they are all conditional offers. I am extremely happy with the offers, and I plan to work to achieve unconditional offers.

While I am happy with the offers, I have already received, I can’t say I’m going to confirm a choice just yet since I’m tied between a few of the universities. I will be researching the universities and what they have to offer for my chosen course further to receiving more offers to decide my final choice.

I took both internal & external help for my university choices. Susmita ma’am also helped me along immensely. She aided me with filling out applications and told me what documents and details I would need to procure. She also guided me in a way tailored specifically for my personality and my strong suits which I truly appreciated.

A few other teachers of mine also helped me by giving me LORs and equipping me with tips for my IELTS exam and other aspects. My friends were also always there cheering me on and encouraging me through my application process.

Personally, I would recommend that other students ensure that they have all their documents, especially their required LORs, ready by the time their application season opens. I had an issue with my time management for one of my Japanese university applications as their duration for accepting applications was only a week and I needed to procure all my documents within that time. All of this had to be done while also balancing schoolwork, and it can be a challenge which is why my suggestion is to maintain a schedule that starts well before applications open.

Overall, my application process was relatively smooth because I knew what course I wanted to apply for and, knew where I wanted to apply to as well. I also took advice from a few career counsellors from Oakridge’s career partner CIALFO that helped me decide the destinations for universities that suited my requirements the best. I am now looking forward to completing my board exams and moving to university.
