As we progress through this month, that has been an exciting and eventful time for our students, with several significant happenings already taking place and some highly anticipated events on the horizon. I would like to share an update on the key highlights of what has been happening and what lies ahead.

Exuberant joy, limitless energy, and moments of great pride!
The children from Primary Years through headed to the field with great excitement as they demonstrated their talents by competing in racing events and practicing drills while participating in team challenges. The celebration brought together parental cheers while parents and students laughed at the outdoor activities which showcased both physical agility and sportsmanship qualities.
Oakridge International School, Mohali, left itself in a position of pride when it became the only school from the Northern part of India that successfully hosted this year’s first Cambridge International Education Masterclass. It received a massive turnout from the participating delegates mostly from various schools, where they freely and productively attempted to reason out and share novel ideas that will help them increase their comprehension and advocacy of the Cambridge Pathway program.
This immersive PYP Exhibition displayed students’ creative work and critical thinking demonstrating their teamwork abilities through visual arts and several performances including theatrical displays, dance and yoga exercises. The exhibition reflected the IB Learner Profile traits, celebrating their hard work and growth as global citizens. With innovative models, wall presentations, and reflections, the event was a testament to the dedication and passion of both students and teachers, marking a successful culmination of their learning journey.
The Student-Led Conference (SLC) was a heartwarming event where our young learners confidently showcased their knowledge and learning journey. Parents actively participated in fun activities and engaging discussions, gaining insights into their child’s growth. Highlights included student narratives, Q&A sessions on various subjects, creative storytelling, and interactive activities. The Early Years Showcase highlighted practical knowledge and motor skills. This SLC truly embodied the IB philosophy, with students taking ownership of their learning and building essential communication skills for the future.
The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition displayed unique models and presentations alongside projects demonstrating their perspectives about life knowledge and the future. Students investigated numerous domains including educational insights accompanied by creative models together with technology analysis of cultural heritage and prospective vision. During sessions parents and visitors engaged in thoughtful question-answer exchanges which revealed their deep interest and comprehension. The viewing experience spotlighted the essential thinking abilities and innovative expertise together with profound knowledge that students acquired via the IB curriculum.
Oakridge Mohali participated in the prestigious SAIBSA (South Asia International Baccalaureate Schools Association) event which took place on February 8 2025 at The Doon School. The noteworthy conference assembled more than 200 top IB educational leaders and teachers from leading Indian schools to discuss educational development. Dr. Jagpreet Singh as The Doon School Headmaster together with Mr. Kaiser Dopaishi as SAIBSA President led the event which concentrated on generating team-based and concept-driven educational approaches. The event offered knowledge about 22 IBDP subjects and core elements during which participants gained useful teaching insights that emphasized collective excellence in IB education.
Sara Beauvallon from Alliance Française led our virtual guest lecture about migration as her role there includes event coordination and communication responsibilities. The native Strasbourg resident Sara Beauvallon traced both her personal immigration story and showed expertise in Communication Strategies after receiving her Master’s degree. Grade 5 students were captivated as they learned about the complexities of migration and its impact, gaining a deeper understanding of global issues.
Science came alive, as our young learners across all grades celebrated National Science Day with excitement and enthusiasm! From thrilling experiments to hands-on activities, learners explored the wonders of science in a fun and engaging way. The day was filled with curiosity, creativity, and innovation, making science both meaningful and enjoyable for everyone.
The Grade 3 students gained key insights from a virtual guest lecture delivered by Priyanka Das who serves as Assistant Product Manager at the Adivasi Welfare Foundation. Through this session she explained how organizations actively support indigenous communities by preserving their various cultural traditions and values. Through this learning experience students deepened their comprehension of the difficulties native communities encounter and recognized why heritage protection is essential for preserving indigenous culture.
Students in EYP 2 and Grade 3 had an educational field trip to the Air Force Museum in Chandigarh for exploring the illustrious history and heritage of the Indian Air Force. Students experienced first-hand different aircraft models as well as weapons and artifacts at the museum which provided them knowledge about modern aviation technology. The interactive exhibits allowed students to develop more extensive knowledge regarding how the Air Force supports national defense efforts and boosts India’s pride.
Students from Grade Nursery toured the Mahatma Gandhi Museum to gain understanding about the life events and challenges faced by Gandhiji during their visit. The educational display parameters including Gandhiji’s footwear and jail room replica with objects from his independence movements captured their attention. Through hands-on activities the students developed personal connections with history as they gained essential knowledge about his peaceful determination.
Grade 5 students travelled to the Tibetan Market for a field experience to learn about the Tibetan cultural traditions. Their trip provided them with valuable perspectives about Tibetan evolution and distinctive clothing traditions which enhanced their knowledge of Tibetan culture. The PYP Exhibition featured this field trip as a core element which bridged academic learning with authentic cultural discoveries.
The students of Grade 5 toured Hindustan Times during their PYPX expedition to see how journalism operates from behind the scenes. Students gained behind-the-scenes knowledge about news collection and dissemination practices through their visit so they gained valuable media and communication insights.
The CAS group initiative directed its efforts toward advancing academic abilities of students in Grades 6 through 9 at a government school while providing instruction in core subjects English and Mathematics and Science. Our DP students utilized interactive teaching approaches that allowed both conceptual development and created engaged learners who displayed increased confidence together with curiosity and love of learning. Participation in this service project heightened their interest in both educational opportunities and societal service for addressing educational inequalities. A collective effort will enable us to create meaningful change.
Students from Grades Nursery to 5 donated stationery items at Vatika Special School for Deaf Children. The heartfelt donation intended to help students learn better while also creating an inclusive environment. Our students made a significant donation that generated profound positive results while nurturing both community involvement and empathetic spirit among the young learners.
Abu Dhabi Regional Conference
The SEAMEI Teaching & Learning Regional Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi brought together educational leaders and professionals from across the region. Our esteemed Principal Ms. Suman Kalra, Secondary Head Ms. Rupa Bhowmick, PYP Head Ms. Vineet Gill, along with our dedicated primary and secondary teachers, attended the conference. They explored best practices in educational leadership and discussed the future of teaching, gaining valuable insights to bring back and implement at our school.
