Oakridgers clinche top spots at a National Coding Event in Bangalore – Codefest 2019

It almost feels like a tradition for Oakridge Bachupally students to be present at every competition, be it sports, academics or a tech festival in our country. Their passion for learning new skills and new experiences leads them to every next event with fresh ideas.
On January 19 and 20, two teams from Oakridge Bachupaly, one of the best IGCSE schools in Hyderabad attended the Codefest 2019 in Bangalore. The event took place at Oakridge Bangalore where a coding marathon of 24 hours was held. A Codefest is a platform that provides the opportunity for aspiring developers to showcase their unique talents to the veterans of the industry.
Coders were able to sustain their progress with a provision of food, drink, and a healthy dose of optimism – achieving in just 24hours what others had only dreamt of.
First Prize in the Junior Category was won by the team comprising of ANAND GOPALAKRISHNAN and BHUVAN KASAM of Grade 7 CAIE. They created a historical Game called Guardians of the Ocean, using Python 3 and Pygame Zero to create awareness about the problems plastic pollution poses to marine life. The game is a single player educational game which gives information about each marine organism displayed. The intent of the game was to create awareness, especially among the young generation, about marine plastic pollution.
Second Prize was bagged by the team comprising of HRITHIKRAM RAMSANKAR, ISHA MATTA, PALLE SIDDHANTH GOUD, SAI VENKATA SIVA RAMA KRISHNA and SNIKITHA SIDDAVATAM of Grade 7 CAIE. The scope of their project is to spread awareness about how to use the metro efficiently and to leverage the infrastructure and functionalities of Metro rail through technology. This project got selected for Stockholm Brussels and they have been given the golden opportunity to present live during the summit.
