Alumni talk – Varsha, batch of 2021 narrates her experience.
- 24 May 2022
Oakridge is full of opportunities, be it academics or extracurricular activities. School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education.
What impact did your time at Oakridge Bachupally School have on you?
It encourages students to participate in many academic and other extracurricular activities including sports. A few very important aspects are university fairs that have helped me choose the right college, teachers focus more on live examples for most of the theories, and very helpful guest lectures.
Holistic development is not just a word I learned how other elements helped us gain more knowledge than just books. Different opportunities were given to students to excel in different aspects.
What were the highlights of your time at Oakridge Bachupally School?
Got an opportunity to play Tennis in many inter-school competitions and represent my school in different cities as well. I participated and achieved many gold medals as well. I have also participated in other sports like swimming, basketball, and art competitions and achieved 2 and 3rd positions.
CAS was very helpful for university applications and in my life as well. Learning about our earth and mother nature and ways to preserve it and conducting various recycling drives. Participated in “Each One Teach One”.
What are you doing now, and what are your career goals? Any notable achievements at your university?
I’m currently a 1st-year student pursuing B.Sc. Criminology and Sociology at the University of Surrey. I always wanted to be a criminologist and work for an NGO, and the process of learning helped me reach my dream. The easy access to the global community helped me analyze my scope in the sector of criminology.
What advice would you give to current Oakridge Bachupally School students as they are looking ahead to college and careers?
My advice to all my juniors is very simple, try to get involved in all the activities and events arranged at school. Reaching out to your Career Counsellor for any help and discussing a step-step plan to achieve success. Try to attend all the university fairs arranged by the school, as they give you a much wider prospect and good choices, this also helps us to decide which is the better option for us.
What would you tell a parent considering sending their child to study at Oakridge Bachupally School?
Oakridge is the best place for any student, the overall development is what helped me shape my future and a better tomorrow.
