From Oakridge to Kelley: Yuva Ganesh’s Journey of Growth and Gratitude
- 5 November 2024
My years at Oakridge, from seventh to twelfth grade, were incredibly formative, and I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences that shaped me. After moving back to India from the United States in seventh grade, I was apprehensive about fitting in. However, Oakridge provided a warm and welcoming environment that eased my transition. The comfort and acceptance I felt from day one allowed me to immerse myself in both academics and extracurricular activities, which the school values equally.
My academic journey at Oakridge was transformative and motivated me to strive for excellence in ways I hadn’t previously considered. The faculty were incredibly supportive and understanding; they recognized the balance many of us sought between academic pursuits and extracurricular passions. Their flexibility created a space where I could explore my interests and develop leadership skills without feeling pressured. At Oakridge, I had the opportunity to lead several initiatives and explore new ventures, which equipped me with invaluable experience and confidence.
Today, as a finance major at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, I realize just how crucial Oakridge’s support has been in my journey. Studying finance at a top-10 undergraduate program would not have been possible without the rigorous academics, vibrant extracurricular scene, and encouragement to seize the opportunities that Oakridge provided. The school set a high standard that prepared me exceptionally well for university life and beyond, and I will always take pride in being an Oakridger.
