- 20 September 2023
Visual Arts is a key component of the IB program at Oakridge. It allows our students to have fun while exploring their creativity, developing critical thinking skills, and expressing themselves. As an IB continuum school, we encourage our students to explore, experiment, and communicate through artistic expression. Our art rooms create open and inclusive classroom environment that fosters individuality, allowing our students to select mediums, themes, and styles that resonate with them.
The world-class teachers at Oakridge International School, Bengaluru fosters inquiry-based learning by asking thought-provoking questions that stimulate our students in critical thinking and research while also guiding them to investigate artists, art movements, and cultural contexts relevant to their projects. Students are ensured a balance between honing technical skills and developing a strong conceptual foundation by developing a comprehensive portfolio that showcases their artistic journey. They learn art theory and art history lessons to broaden students understanding of artistic concepts, cultural influences, and the evolution of visual arts.
Students work on collaborative projects and peer critiques to foster a sense of community and we provide them with constructive feedback. The school integrates technology into art by exploring digital art tools, online galleries, and multimedia techniques to create posters, and more. Our learners are guided on presentation techniques, curation strategies, and effective ways to communicate their artistic vision through a IB Visual art exhibition. We the art educators aim to instil a lifelong appreciation for art in your students. We encourage them to continue exploring art as a form of self-expression, personal growth, and cultural enrichment.
