Individuals & Societies Department Celebrate Incredible India
- 22 August 2024
As India proudly celebrated its 78th Independence Day, the nation resonated with the theme ‘Viksit Bharat,’ reflecting the government’s ambitious vision to transform India into a developed nation by 2047, the centenary of its independence. In alignment with this vision, the I&S department at Oakridge International School Bengaluru organized a series of engaging activities aimed at deepening our learners’ understanding and appreciation of India’s rich cultural diversity. Learners immersed themselves in the beauty of ‘Incredible India’ by watching videos that showcased India’s heritage. They reflected on these visual journeys and presented their insights, further solidifying their connection to India’s diverse culture. Additionally, they participated in challenging GK quizzes, which sharpened their knowledge and awareness of India’s rich history and cultural legacy. One of the highlights was the creation of vision boards, where learners expressed their hopes and dreams for a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ The creativity and thoughtfulness of their wishes were truly inspiring. For instance, an MYP 3 learner envisioned a future where the Indian Rupee surpasses the US Dollar in value, while an MYP 2 student expressed a desire for clean, pothole-free roads across the country. These activities not only sparked reflection but also fostered a deeper appreciation among the learners for the diverse culture and heritage that define our great nation. The experience was a meaningful reminder of the collective aspirations that can drive India toward a brighter and more prosperous future. REKHA RAJENDRAN MYP MATHEMATICS & I & S FACILITATOR
