Shaping Tomorrow: September Updates from the Principal

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

Our Oakridge community has been buzzing with activity this month! We kicked off August with our IB evaluation visit, followed by the vibrant celebrations of Independence Day on the 15th. Our learners actively participated in various interschool events and competitions, showing both their talents and team spirit.

We also wrapped up the month with the selection of our new Student Council for the academic year 2024-25 and Self-Awareness Week, while witnessing the success of the Suvriddhi food selling drives. One of the highlights for me personally has been the conversations with our DP2 students, getting to know about their achievements, goals and challenges. I also had the opportunity to visit Oakridge schools in Hyderabad, which was a valuable experience, allowing me to observe best practices and exchange ideas with our partner schools.

Our PYP Parent Mornings were a great success, providing a platform for parents to engage with their children’s learning journey. We received a wonderful response for nominations for our Oak Parent Partners. In cases where there were multiple entries for a grade, we used a draw of lots to ensure a fair selection process. We are excited to share the names with you soon. When we step into the arena to compete and participate, our true success is measured not just by the outcome but by the experiences we gain along the way. Whether we win or lose, it’s the lessons learned, the skills developed, and the resilience built that truly define our journey.

Congratulations to our MUN teams for their outstanding achievements, including multiple Best Delegate awards and recognition as the Best Small Committee at HMUN. Our girls’ basketball, under-16 cricket, swimming, and tennis teams have also brought us pride with their remarkable performances. A heartfelt congratulations to all our teams and gratitude to our teachers who have been coaching and chaperoning our learners to these events. I want to take a moment to appreciate our outgoing Student Council. Their dedication, and energy have been evident in every interaction, and I am grateful for their contributions.

On September 5th we had a lovely celebration of Teachers’ Day with student council and our dear learners. It was heartwarming to see the love and affection our learners have for the teachers. Looking ahead, we have the Investiture Ceremony on September 6th, where we will officially welcome our new Student Council.

Additionally, we are excited about “Virtuoso,” our first school showcase event of the year, which promises to be a celebration of our students’ talents and efforts. I look forward to seeing our school community come together for these events. Let’s continue to embrace every challenge and opportunity as steps toward growth and success.

Kind Regards,
Kavita Sukhani
