An Aspiring Aerospace Engineer from Oakridge Bengaluru
- 23 January 2025
University of Bristol is positioned 54th globally in QS ranking. And Dongjun Kang from DP 2 at Oakridge International School, Bengaluru has received an offer in Aerospace engineering there! Here’s an exclusive conversation with Dongjun.
I am still in shock and cannot believe my achievement. It’s a whirlwind of emotions — part of me feels sad knowing that my high school journey is ending, while another part of me feels excitement for a new beginning where I can pursue my interest in Aerospace Engineering. It’s a bittersweet moment, marking both an ending and a new beginning.
I am still in the process of receiving my offers. When I receive all my offers, I will confirm my choice.
The school has been always enjoyable for me due to my friends. Thanks to my friends, I’ve spent my best 3 years in Oakridge due to the everyday school life.
The teachers have always been helpful and supportive. They always believed in me and pushed me to reach my full potential.
Career guidance at Oakridge was incredibly helpful. I was completely lost and uncertain about my future and university decisions, but the guidance helped me find clarity and direction.
I want to say, be ambitious rather than too realistic. No one knows if they can reach the stars without trying. I would also want to reassure the students to not feel too much pressure, and simultaneously and slowly begin preparing for your university application by building your profile.
Knowledge holds immeasurable power, and it is vital for us to begin our research now so that we are not illegible for our dream universities in the future. For instance, if you aspire to study in the UK or Australia, your grades are the key and your extra-curriculars have less significance. However, if you want to study in the US, your extra-curriculars are very important. Early preparation is what turns chances into opportunities.
