Update From the Principal’s Desk
- 8 November 2024
I want to start my note by congratulating the entire school community as we are Ranked 3 in the city and in state among IB schools by Education World. I attribute this award to the commitment of our teachers, staff who ensure that the educational standards of IB are constantly reinforced in our school and our students and parents who continue to work with us and trust us. The school is busy today with our Oak MUN in action. This year we moved from Junior MUN to OAK MUN. It all started when our school delegation won the Best Small Delegation award at Harvard MUN – they felt we could make it big at our school too. And I am so proud to see our students take on this challenge and deliver a successful event from day one. Our role at school as educators is to teach, however if we don’t continue to learn and update with the times we don’t do justice to our roles. At Nord Anglia teachers never stop learning. We have a treasure of learning access via our Nord Anglia University portal with several courses and opportunities for teachers to continuously learn and share learning as well. I am sharing here some opportunities that we have as a school and that we are signing up for to help grow and continue to learn. Nord Anglia Education also continues to build learning opportunities for us to learn and meet with our counterparts from other NAE schools. I got an opportunity to meet the wider Nord Anglia leadership at our annual leadership conference. We are a group of 87 schools in 33 countries around the world, that makes us a large family and leads to the benefits with multiple resources. The focus of the conference was how leadership helps build cultures of learning and wellbeing for our staff and community in our schools. As an extension to the conference, I have signed up for a study on building learning cultures in partnership with Harvard to help us grow as a school community. Our Early Years team is participating in a research project initiated by one of our Principals at the Avenues Sao Paolo. We look forward to the learning and enhancement to our early years as a part of this project. Two of our Secondary school team members attended a training on Teenage Suicide on how to spot and prevent such situations in case we need to. We all learn from situations, however it’s important to be prepared for difficult situations to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children. Our Admin Head Mr Jayan and I attended a training course on the areas of risk assessment and safety at school. This has equipped us better in ensuring our spaces and actions are safe for all children at all times. At the start of the year, our entire staff participated in an IB training session, and we are continuously finding new learning opportunities. This October, our PYP team attended “job-alike” sessions organized by the South Asian International Baccalaureate Schools Association (SAIBSA), and our DP teachers will participate in a similar event this coming Saturday. These sessions enable our teachers to connect with peers from other IB schools, exchange best practices, and deepen their expertise. Learning and growth are at the heart of our school community, and as we strive to teach, we remain committed to learning every day. Warm Regards, Kavita Sukhani
