Update from the Principal’s Desk
- 4 October 2024
Dear Parents, Students & Staff,
I’d like to reflect and take you through the activities, collaborations, and achievements that shape the IB journey for our students.
Similar to Virtuoso, the Performing Arts showcase for secondary school, October has begun with the Activity Showcase of our PYP 3 and 4. On October 4th, the learners from pre-nursery to PYP 5 were recognised for their incredible learner profile attributes. Our primary learners also enjoyed a number of engaging field trips, which offered rich learning experiences beyond the classroom.
As you are aware, we formally appointed our new student council at Investiture. Soon after, these young leaders organized a wonderful Dussehra celebration, bringing the Oakridge community together.
We also held our first Parent Partners Meeting and received actionable insights from all grades. We’ve initiated the process for MYP5 students and parents to learn more about the IBDP programme.
In terms of academic development, we were fortunate to have Mr Richard Dyer visit us this month. He spent time in lessons, met with students and DP teachers, and provided valuable insights on how we can continue to enhance our IBDP program.
Our students have been shining both inside and outside the classroom. Our basketball teams continue to make us proud with their achievements. MYP students excelled at the World Scholars Cup Global Round in Bangkok.
We have renovated Admissions and Admin spaces —do take a moment to see them on your next visit.
Looking ahead, Codefest, one of our biggest school events, is coming up in January. We are thrilled to share that our students have secured a title sponsorship for this event. We’ve pre-poned Codefest from 18th January to 11th January, allowing more of our students to participate in the World Scholars Cup. We’re grateful for your support and invite any parents who may be interested in sponsoring the events to reach out to us.
Our Junior MUN has grown tremendously, and we are transitioning it to OAK MUN, opening even more opportunities for the participants.
In sports, we’ve had to make space in our calendar to accommodate the SFA event, which many of our students participated in last year. The dates were clashing with our primary sports event, so we’ve adjusted the calendar to ensure students can participate in both.
Lastly, we’re excited to announce a new partnership for our Extended Learning Program (ELP) with Lakshyan Academy and Real Madrid. Stay tuned to see these exciting collaborations enhance our after-school activities.
As always, none of these achievements would be possible without the continued support of our parents. We truly value how your participation makes students’ experience fulfilling.
Wishing you a festive Dussehra break, and we look forward to welcoming our learners back on 14th October!
Kind regards,
Kavita Sukhani
