Making a Difference: Our CAS Journey to Support and Inspire Young Learners
- 13 February 2025
We pursued an initiative through our CAS (Creativity Activity Service) group project to support middle school students at a government school with their core studies including English and Math and Science based subjects.
Our main target was to develop students’ understanding of concepts better while simultaneously boosting their academic achievements through teaching methods based on student practices and interactivity. We designed specialized instructional techniques because our students presented different learning requirements to guarantee both access and interest in the material.
The English curriculum included designed reading and writing activities together with vocabulary enhancement tasks and interactive dialogue sessions that boosted linguistic ability and speaking proficiency.
The Mathematics program focused on showing students various problem-solving approaches while teaching logical thinking methods and practical applications which helped students make theoretical concepts practical.
Science sessions featured experiential learning because they included hands-on experiments with demonstrations which developed scientific inquiry and critical thinking abilities among students. The educational engagement went beyond traditional subject teaching by working to develop student confidence while teaching them curiosity and skills for independent learning. We maintained an interactive learning environment which helped students develop dialogue skills and both analytical abilities and collaborative competencies.
This educational experience enabled us to actively participate in developing education while building our expertise in leadership and developing teamwork alongside flexible problem-solving and sympathy for others. The project revealed how education combined with service work as strong agents of change thus demonstrating why all students deserve equivalent learning opportunities. This experience validated our knowledge about poor students’ educational difficulties while demonstrating why young people must lead programs to resolve educational equality issues. We developed an extensive understanding of how collective work advances social transformation while empowering youth learners after completing this initiative.
We are extremely grateful to our school, Oakridge International, Mohali for giving us this opportunity to engage in such a meaningful initiative.
