Update From Principal’s Desk – October 2024
- 16 October 2024
Dear Parents,
As October unfolds, I would like to review some of the activities that have happened and the collaborations and accomplishments that form the IB for our students. Here are a few glimpses of some thought-provoking, innovative, and culturally responsive activities centered on constructing an elaborate sense of network.
Global University Fair
This Global University Fair organized at Oakridge Mohali was a remarkable experience that stretched beyond the national boundaries, accommodating nearly 300 attendees who got connected with representatives from more than 30 prestigious institutions across the USA, UK, India, Australia, Europe, and Canada. It aimed at fetching firsthand information regarding various undergraduate programs, scholarships, and campus placements.
Grandparent’s Day Celebration
Grandparent’s Day was marked by a warm reunion of grandparents and their grandkids through an entertaining program accompanying some great puppet shows with several engaging sessions portraying the eternal bond between the two generations.
Guest Lectures: Wellness Workshops
The school organized two guest lectures for our students. Our first guest was yoga trainer Ms. Shivani Vij, who showed various yoga asanas and postures along with their correct formations. The second guest lecturer was neuropsychiatrist Dr. Nik Bhandari, who conducted an engaging session on stress, anxiety, mental health, and emotional well-being. We thank our guests for giving such perfect exposure to our learners through their amazing workshops.
Safeguarding Excellence
Oakridge has taken many measures when it comes to the safety of the school, including preparing all support staff on fire equipment, a full campus fire evacuation drill, and overall checkups of facilities, including the playground, to ensure complete safety for students and faculty. Safety concerns such as fire drills and structural assessments are other areas in which Oakridge invests to instill confidence in students, parents, and the teaching staff.
Teacher training: Raz Plus application
Recently, our teaching staff underwent induction of a newly launched application called Raz Plus that aims at providing additional tools to facilitate the work of the teachers and students and would help to develop language understanding and fluency.
As we move through October, we have a great selection of events and projects coming up. From the much-awaited Fall Festival to the big launch of our event, Raza, there’s excitement for everyone.
Upcoming Events
Gandhi Jayanti Assembly (First week of October)
On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a special assembly will be conducted by the students enlightening the premises with the visionary’s immense contributions.
International Library Week (October 1st -7th)
International Library Week will have well-curated author and storytelling sessions accompanied by reading and writing competitions, aiding our students to flourish their reading and comprehension skill sets.
Dussehra & Ram Navmi Celebrations (October 9th & 10th)
The school shall be observed celebrating Dusshera and Ram Navmi, featuring some stunning Dandiya dance performances and the rhythmic form of Garba, showcasing our learners’ excitement for our rich culture.
