Dear Parents,

Greetings from Oakridge International School!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer break. It is delightful to reach out to you again with snapshots of the eventful month of June! Everyone is happy to be in class again. I would like to thank our parents for their ongoing assistance and the utmost confidence they have shown in the school.

It’s exhilarating to welcome back students to school and watch them engage in the back-to-school activities. Students in all Grades have begun the process of setting goals. Consistently attending classes is an essential prerequisite to accomplishing their goals. We rely on your support for your ward’s attendance and regularity.

We have recently organised the most awaited the Investiture Ceremony. At this ceremony, our school’s new Prefect Council took the spotlight as the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputies, Sports Captain, House Captain, Cultural Captain, Well-Being President, and others.

Our collaboration with Callido Learning – a provider of digital resources for developing students’ critical thinking and research skills that enhances their learning in the Cambridge curriculum,  has been fantastic. Students of Grades 6-9 had two-day face-to-face sessions with trained facilitators that helped them develop and practice these essential 21st century skills.

I thank every parent for taking out time to attend the grade 2-5 ‘Know your curriculum session’. The objective of this programme was to provide parents with a chance to experience and comprehend how their children are learning at school. The Oakridge Learning System, whose guiding principle is “Be ambitious; we believe there is no limit to what your child can achieve,” was explained to the parents. We have enjoyed interacting with you, and your positive feedback has overwhelmed us. We also promise to put your suggestions, which were very beneficial, into practice as quickly as possible.

I invite you to take a look at the activities in your school for the eventful month of June. I thank you all for being such an involved part of it.

Regards,

Ms.Shaila Bhamidipati

Principal

It’s School Time Again!

After a long summer break, hanging out with old friends, meeting new classmates, buying cool school supplies, getting involved in sports and other activities is an exciting feeling for kids. Similarly for us witnessing our Oakridgers come back to school with new excitement and zeal is equally exhilarating. Despite the rain, Ms. Shaila Bhamidipati, our principal, gave a warm welcome to all students at the entrance.

With some icebreaker sessions and engaging class activities, our teachers helped students have a great first day as they made their way to their classes.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience to have all the students back to school!

Leaders of Tomorrow

Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam believes in creating leaders of tomorrow. The Investiture ceremony is a special ritual that helps to make that belief a reality. It is more than just giving out badges and titles;  it is about bestowing responsibilities and developing leadership skills.

The Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2022-23 was held with utmost probity. At this ceremony, the new brigade of Oakridgers stepped to the fore as the new prefectural body with titles such as Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputies, Sports Captain, House Captain, Cultural Captain, Well Being President, and others.

The ‘Prefectorial Board’ was conferred with badges and responsibilities by the Principal, Ms.Shaila Bhamidpati, Director, Mr. Amit Jain, Coordinators, and House Masters.

Ms. Shaila B, the School Principal, administered the Prefect Council Members’ oath, in which pupils took oath to serve the school community to the best of their abilities.

World Music Day Celebrations

The overall development of a child is always the goal at Oakridge. Students are guided in a path where they identify their strengths to achieve greater heights in various fields, which leads them down a path of self-discovery.

Music is one such path that helps children discover their true potential. It promotes harmony between the body and the mind stimulating child’s growth and development in all spheres.

Oakridgers at Visakhapatnam celebrated World Music Day with mesmerizing performances. Students of different classes showcased a spectacular Musical performance with great enthusiasm and enthralled the audience.

Here are a few glimpses of the same.

Social Emotional Learning

“Personalized learning is a progessively student-driven experience where students have a role in co-creating investigations and ideas” Allison Zmuda

We teach our children in a way that works for them. We choose personalized learning as the engagement keeps students motivated to learn at their own pace, rather than  a typical classroom teaching.

We work to provide a unique learning system based on the students needs, interests, strengths, and skills.

Learning through Role-Play

Signs and symbols speed up the level of understanding of individuals. As a part of the ongoing topic, our Grade 1 children made their sign boards to show their creativity, ownership, or to say that something is important to them.

They also did a role play on various real-life set-ups like fruit market/toy shop/book store to enhance their learning experiences, with an element of fun.

Jump In – Out Activity!

Movement is important to be incorporated into every single day, especially with little ones. Not just fine motor skills, gross motor skills are also important to help a child gaining strength and confidence in his/her body. Our children require abilities to control the large muscles of the body that are important for their ability to do more complex skills in future.

Our Early Years munchkins learned to balance their bodies while making small and large movements through the Jump In – Out activity under the guidance of their Facilitators.

Having their friends around make the activity more fun.

Science is fun

We want our students to be prepared for an ever-changing world.

“Children need realistic learning experiences that are authentically set in real-life environments that are built to intentionally imitate how the world currently operates outside the classroom boundaries.” says Ms.Manoja while engaging children in Science Practicles.

It was great to see students of grade 5 engaged and engrossed in learning about sedementation process.

Dad and Me

“A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.” – anoynomous

Early Years students celebrated International Fathers Day with great fun and enthusiasm across all the campuses in Visakhapatnam. They created beautiful greeting cards, sang a song on Dad and celebrated the day with great joy.

Proud Moment

“It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”-Paul Bryant.

Aadhya from Grade 4 competed in a KATA event for children under the age of nine that was held by the “National Open Karate Championship 2022” and won a bronze medal.

Career Guidance

Career counseling is the process of guiding students on the path to self-discovery and self-realization, working with them patiently, supporting them as they weed out self-doubt and make surer decisions based on their interests, leading to long-term satisfaction with their choices and a life lived with purpose.

Our guest from Ashoka University held a session on ‘Careers of the future and Liberal education in India’.

Yoga Day

Oakridgers were up early on a beautiful morning and stretched themselves to celebrate the 8th International Yoga Day on 21 June 2022.

Yoga has great importance in the present education system.  At Oakridge we incorporate Yoga into the curriculum at a very young age as it helps in the holistic development of the child. It also is a valuable tool to promote focus, strength, and mindfulness among children.
