Principal’s Desk Update – September 2023

  • 12 September 2023

Dear Parents,

Greetings!

I am happy to share with you the latest updates from our school for the month of September, which has been filled with exciting developments. This update reflects the essence of our values, mission, and vision, which guide our actions and endeavors.

On September 4, 2023, we celebrated the inauguration of our new Early Years campus at Siripuram. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Christopher Short, Managing Director NAE India, in the company of the Principal and Senior Leadership team. Moreover, on this significant day, we also launched the Early Years club, “Elite” catering to our EY2 and Grade 1 students.

A group of 18 students from Grades 9-12 participated in the Oakridge Model United Nations event in Oakridge Gachibowli from September 7 to September 9, 2023. Each student skillfully represented their respective countries’ perspectives in a diverse range of committees, engaging in intense yet constructive debates that fostered mutual learning. I am pleased to inform you that five delegates received Verbal Mention recognition for their outstanding contributions, and one student, was honoured with an Honourable Mention for his commendable performance.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award (IAYP), a program designed for young minds aged 14 to 25, offers opportunities to acquire new skills, face challenging experiences, explore different cultures, and develop self-discipline, among other valuable attributes. Three of our students have been awarded Bronze Level certificates and badges for their dedicated completion of Voluntary Service, Adventurous Journey, Skill Demonstration, and Physical Recreation over a span of six months. I encourage all parents to motivate their children to take up the IAYP (International award for young people) challenge.

NAE Global Campus update: I am excited to introduce Global Campus, an interactive platform that sets us apart from others in the educational landscape. Our focus is on nurturing the desire for learning, broadening horizons, and gaining diverse experiences. We request all parents to encourage their children to log into the Global Campus website and stay updated on upcoming activities, such as GC Newsroom and GC Art Club.

With NAE MIT STEAM, our students are preparing to explore the boundaries of knowledge and wisdom. We recently held a review session for our staff to understand the key performance indicators for this academic year, followed by a webinar by Mr. Shon Mackie, who provided insights into the upcoming MIT challenges.

International trips: Our curriculum is designed to provide ample opportunities for exploration and learning, preparing students for a life filled with adventure, challenges, responsible citizenship, and fulfillment. A group of 38 students from grades 6 to 8, accompanied by four facilitators, are gearing up for their STE(A)Mpact Trip to Singapore from October 28 to November 1, 2023, where they will explore Sustainable Development Goals and how 21st-century skills can contribute to a better future. Another cohort of 12 students from grades 4 to 7, along with one facilitator, will participate in the Nord Anglia Education, Dubai Regional STEAM Fest from October 16 to October 19, 2023.

The updates don’t end here! I am proud to announce that 18 of our students will be competing in Band-It, a regional-level Music fest in Hyderabad organized by Furtados School of Music on September 30, 2023. I wish them all the best!

The mornings have been filled with the excitement of the Inter-House Swimming Competition over the past week. The cheers, celebrations, team spirit, and House pride have been palpable and exhilarating.

Following the Term 1 examinations, the first Parent-Student-Educator Meeting was held last week, focusing on providing feedback to students in grades 10 and 12 to address their needs and prepare them for the Board exams.

Our dedicated teachers, the Knowledge Bearers, were heartened by the special assembly held on September 4, 2023, as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations. On this memorable day students expressed their love, respect, and gratitude. Mr. Christopher Short, Managing Director of the India Region, personally congratulated each teacher for their exceptional contributions.

It is essential to understand that we are not merely preparing our students for life after the 10th grade; we are laying the foundation for how they will embrace new challenges in grades 11 and 12. Career counseling sessions are in full swing, and students are actively building their portfolios.

We recently conducted an informative session for the parents of Grade 5 students, aimed at providing valuable insights into the upcoming Cambridge Primary Checkpoint examination scheduled for the end of this academic year. The response from parents was enthusiastic. The session offered a comprehensive understanding of the exam’s objectives and guidance on how to prepare effectively. We are dedicated to ensuring that both our students and their parents are well-equipped for success.

With just a few weeks remaining until the Term 1 examinations for all grades, it’s crucial for students to adhere to the upcoming revision schedule and plan their preparations effectively. We expect you to have received the exam date sheet and syllabus from your class teacher, and they will be sharing it with you later this week.

Thank you for your continued support and stay tuned for more updates. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reach out.

Best wishes

Shaila Bhamidipati
